One tap, and it's all gone.

Sometimes you just want a fresh start. Kill Switch deletes the key that locks everything Black Book has stored, and your conversations become unreadable in an instant.

How it works

Everything Black Book stores on your phone is locked with a single key that exists only there. When you tap Kill Switch, that key is deleted first. Your conversations, photos and settings turn into random numbers that no one can unlock again.

It's faster and safer than deleting file by file, because modern phones move data around in ways no app can control.

Choose how to erase

Delete all data now

Your account, your keys and everything waiting for you disappear for good, from the phone and from the server.

Erase everything in the app

Your phone is as good as new. Your account still exists, so you can sign in again, but old conversations don't come back.

Delete account automatically

Choose a period from one week to three months. If you don't open the app by then, your account deletes itself.

Pause your account

Go invisible and offline until you turn it off. Nothing is deleted.

Common questions

Can anyone recover anything after Kill Switch?

No. The key is deleted, and without it nothing can be read. There is no copy of it, not with us and not in backups.

What about messages I sent to others?

They stay with the recipients, as in any messaging app. If you want messages to vanish for both of you, turn on disappearing messages.

Does Kill Switch work offline?

Everything on the phone is erased regardless. Deleting your account on the server needs a connection, but if you've turned on automatic deletion, it happens by itself.

What if I change my mind?

Kill Switch can't be undone. That's why Black Book always asks you to confirm first.
